Why good B2B service
businesses don’t always
get the right leads.
I study how a service company gets found, understood, trusted and contacted,
by the human buyer and by the AI agent some buyers now send ahead of them.
This site is where I write down what I learn.
One email a week, with three practical checks for your B2B service
website, for the human buyer and the AI agent.

services, logistics and fulfillment providers, staffing firms, accounting and commercial law firms,
and other companies that sell a service to other companies.
A lead is the last step of a long journey.
Most reports start counting at the enquiry form. I start earlier, with what the business is good at and what the internet says about it, because the wrong enquiries are usually caused upstream.

A legitimate lead
A real requirement the company can serve, and more than a form fill.
Your website now has two readers. One fix usually serves both.
The first is the buyer. The second is the AI agent some buyers now ask to research providers, compare them and sometimes make first contact. Everything on this site is written with both in mind.
Read. What you do, for whom, where and at what size is written as plain text, not held in an image, a PDF or behind a click.
Compare. Stated facts and written proof that can be set beside another provider. “Full service” gives nobody anything to compare.
Consistent. The same details on your website, your profiles and your listings.
Contact. Clearly labelled form fields, and a written email address beside every form as a second route.
What I don’t claim. Being readable does not decide what any AI tool says or whom it suggests. It decides whether your facts are there to be found.
New here? Start with these six questions.
What is a legitimate lead for a B2B service business?
An enquiry from someone with a real requirement that your company can serve: the right kind of work, in a place you cover, at a size you take on. A form submission only becomes a lead once those things are true.
Why can more traffic still produce poor leads?
Because visits are counted before anyone asks what the visitor wanted. A page can attract people learning to do the work themselves, students, job seekers and suppliers, and each of them counts as traffic.
Does the internet understand what your business is actually good at?
Your website is one of many places that describe you. Listings, reviews, old articles and partner pages all say something too, and they often describe the company you were a few years ago.
What happened before the buyer started searching?
Something changed. A provider let them down, a deadline appeared, or the team outgrew doing the work in-house. That situation shapes what they search for and what they need to read, and most service pages never mention it.
Can AI understand when your company is the right fit?
AI tools can only repeat what has been written down. If no page states plainly what you do, for whom and where, there is little for them to work with. Nothing guarantees how an answer will change, but clear information is where it starts.
Can an AI agent acting for a buyer read, compare and contact your company?
Some buyers now hand part of the search to an AI agent: find providers, compare them, and sometimes send the first enquiry. It works from what is written in plain text and needs a way in that does not depend on a person at a screen. The fixes that help it nearly always help the human buyer too.
Ten ways I look at the same problem.
- Buyer
What situation brought them here, and who else has to agree?
- AI
What can an AI tool find and repeat, and can an AI agent act on it?
- Positioning
Can a buyer tell what the company is best suited to handle?
- Authority
Who else mentions the company, and are those readers relevant?
- Sales
What happens between the enquiry and the first reply?
- Search
What do they see before they click?
- Content
Does it help someone choose a provider, or only explain the service?
- Proof
Is there an example a buyer like them would recognise?
- Trust
Do reviews, profiles and the website tell the same story?
- Lead quality
Of the enquiries received, how many could the company serve?
What the weekly email looks like.
Each issue takes one part of your website or sales process and gives you three things to check, what the problem costs you, how an AI agent meets the same page, and wording you can copy. It takes about four minutes to read.
- Subject: Three checks on your enquiry form
1. Submit it yourself.
Fill in your own form as a buyer would, then see where the message lands and who reads it. A form can look fine on the page and deliver to an inbox nobody opens.
2. Replace the “Message” label.
A blank box gives buyers little to go on. Ask a question instead.
3. Say what happens next.
Just above the form, tell the buyer who will reply and when.
The same checks, for an AI agent
An AI agent sending an enquiry for a buyer may not get past a puzzle or a field with no visible label. Put a written email address beside the form as a second route.
Wording you can use
Box label: “What do you need help with?”
Above the form: “[Name] from our projects team replies within one working day.”
Beside the form: “Prefer email? Write to [email address].”
I’m Navneet. I run a marketing agency.
For years my team has helped companies get found in search. Across many of them I kept seeing the same thing: a good service business, plenty of enquiries, and few from the buyers it wanted.
I treat that as a question to study, and this site is the notebook. I also share one practical check a day on Instagram.
If your company works with us, you work with my team. I set the strategy with them and join the first call. A project lead and specialists run the project and the regular calls.
